You can connect a List View Web Part to Excel Web Access in two ways:

• Document URL   Pass the document URL of a published Microsoft Office Excel workbook located in a document library. In this case, you use the document URL of the selected workbook item in the document library to load or change the workbook that is displayed in Excel Web Access. You do not have to enter a workbook URL for Excel Web Access in the Workbook custom property because you are using the List View Web Part connection to enter the URL for you.

  For example, let's say that you have a DeptStats document library that stores multiple workbooks, each of which contains key statistical information about each department in your division. You can create a Division Statistics Web Part page, that connects the two Web Parts together, so that each time that you select a workbook item from the DeptStats List View Web Part, you display the selected department workbook in the Excel Web Access Web Part.

• Named Item   Pass a named item from a list to an Excel Web Access Web Part. In this case, you are using the named item in the list to control which named item in the Excel Web Access Web Part to display. You do have to enter a workbook URL for Excel Web Access in the Workbook custom property, and this workbook must be published with the appropriate named items. You do not have to enter the named item in the Named Item custom property or use the View drop-down list because you are using the List View Web Part connection to enter the named item for you.

  For example, let's say that you have a workbook that contains 3 named items: FY2006_Chart, FY2006_Summary_Table, and FY2006_ PivotTable_Details. You publish this workbook, specify these named items for viewing in Excel Services, and then create an FY2006_Data Excel Web Access Web Part that displays this workbook. Next, you create a FY2006_Items list that contains these three named items as individual list items. Each time that you select an item from the FY2006_Items List View Web Part, you display the selected named item in the FY2006_Data Excel Web Access Web Part.

Connect the Web Parts by using a document URL

1. Add the List View Web Part of the document library and the Excel Web Access Web Part to a Web Part Page. For more information, see List View Web Part and Add or remove a Web Part.
2. On the Site Actions menu , click Edit Page.
3. From the Excel Web Access Web Part, click the Web Part menu , point to Connections, point to Get Workbook URL From, and then click the appropriate List View Web Part.
4. In the Configure Connection dialog box, select Document URL from the Field Name list box, and then click Finish.
5. To exit Web Part Page Edit Mode and view the page, at the top of the Web Part Page, under the Site Actionsdrop-down menu, click Exit Edit Mode.
6. To view each workbook in the Excel Web Access Web Part, click the option button next to the workbook item in the List View Web Part.

Connect the Web Parts by using a named item

1. Add the List View Web Part of the list containing the named items and the Excel Web Access Web Part to a Web Part Page. For more information, see List View Web Part and Add or remove a Web Part.
2. On the Site Actions menu , click Edit Page.
3. On the opening screen of Excel Web Access, click the link, Click here to open the tool pane.

   The Web Part enters Edit Mode and the Web Part Tool Pane is displayed.

4. Enter the URL or UNC of the workbook containing the named items in the Workbook text box.

   To easily locate a workbook, click Select a Link and use the Select a Link dialog box.

5. From the Excel Web Access Web Part, click the Web Part menu , point to Connections, point to Get Named Item From, and then click the appropriate List View Web Part.
6. In the Configure Connection dialog box, select Title from the Field Name list box, and then click Finish.
7. To exit Web Part Page Edit Mode and view the page, at the top of the Web Part Page, under the Site Actionsdrop-down menu, click Exit Edit Mode.
8. To view each named item in the Excel Web Access Web Part, click the option button next to the named item in the List View Web Part.
