You can configure each site to determine what navigation items to show, and where and in what order to show them. When you create a new subsite, page, or other item, a corresponding navigation item automatically appears in one or both of the navigation areas (the top link bar or the Quick Launch) of the parent site, unless you specify that the navigation item should be hidden.
